We are recruiting a Controls Engineer to contribute to the design, development, programming, commissioning, and performance tuning of control and protection systems for the clients power generation and distribution packages, ensuring their effective, efficient, safe, and reliable operation. This role supports the wider engineering team in delivering innovative and robust energy solutions that meet customer requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement control system solutions for power generation and distribution projects.
  • Program and configure PLCs, develop Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and configure control and monitoring systems.
  • Configure protection settings and systems, including protection relays, for power generation and distribution applications.
  • Support the tuning of controllers to optimise generator and distribution system performance, including fuel efficiency, power quality, and transient response.
  • Assist in the commissioning and testing of control and protection systems both in-house and on-site.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, design reports, and test procedures, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

You Should have/be:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in controls and protection systems engineering, preferably within the power generation and distribution industry.
  • Strong technical skills in designing, programming, and operating control systems, including PLCs and HMI development.
  • Hands-on experience with generator-specific controllers, ECUs, digital AVRs, and controls for distribution assets like switchgear and transformers.
  • Experience in protection relay settings and configurations for power generation and distribution.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
