NT Engineering & Manufacturing's Highland Division is working exclusively with SaxaVord Spaceport in Shetland to recruit 2 Mechanical Technicians to join a brand-new engineering and maintenance team.
SaxaVord is building towards its first launch, expected by the end of 2026, with further growth planned as launch activity develops. You'll have the chance to help shape how the engineering and maintenance function develops, work alongside electrical engineers and operations, and potentially grow into supervisory or leadership roles as the site expands
This is an opportunity to take your mechanical skills somewhere very different - a working spaceport, supporting the infrastructure behind rocket launches.
This isn't your typical maintenance role….
You'll be working across one of the UK's most exciting new engineering environments, helping keep the infrastructure behind the spaceport running safely and reliably.
Your work will include:
- Mechanical maintenance across pumps, valves, pipework and rotating equipment
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Power generation and utilities
- Compressed air systems
- Lifting equipment
- Launch pad ground-support infrastructure
- General industrial plant
- The newly built Integration Hangar, where rockets are assembled before heading to the launch pad
What we're looking for
We're interested in good mechanical engineers/technicians who want to do something different.
You'll ideally have experience with:
- Mechanical maintenance
- Pumps, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics or rotating equipment
- Pipework and industrial plant
- Fault finding and breakdown maintenance
- Multiskilled/electrical experience would be a bonus.
We're not necessarily looking for someone who has worked in a space environment before.
