PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER

GLASGOW

HYBRID (MIN 3 DAYS ONSITE)

PERMANENT

Do you enjoy fixing things, building things, taking things apart and making things work?

What if you could design products where your engineering decisions genuinely make a difference?

NT Engineering & Manufacturing are working in exclusive partnership with Safehinge Primera as they continue to grow their engineering and product development team in Glasgow.

Safehinge design and build specialist anti ligature doorsets and safety solutions that are designed to protect people without compromising on dignity, functionality or the environment around them. They create solutions that go beyond simply reducing risk - they help create safer, more welcoming spaces where people feel supported and respected across mental health care, education & custodial and secure care.

You will be joining a growing engineering function as Product Design engineer into a very busy and varied role where design decisions have real ownership attached to them. The development team is working across increasingly complex products and needs engineers who can bring ideas to life. You'll have the opportunity to work across different technologies, manufacturing methods and product challenges, while developing your own technical breadth along the way. You will have a high level of autonomy and responsibility reporting into the Development Lead.

From initial concept right through to market launch, you'll be designing, developing, testing and improving real products with moving parts, mechanisms and multiple manufacturing considerations - working across everything from mechanical components and door hardware through to sensors, PCBs and software interfaces.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has around 5+ years' product design/development experience
  • Has taken products from concept → design → prototype → manufacture
  • Understands different manufacturing processes and materials
  • Can make informed engineering decisions rather than simply work to someone else's specification
  • Has strong 3D CAD and technical engineering capability
  • Understands DFM/DFA, testing, risk and product development
  • Is comfortable getting hands-on with prototypes and solving problems
  • Has worked across multiple products, projects or manufacturing methods
  • Is naturally curious and enjoys figuring out how things work
  • Isn't afraid to get stuck in and learn something new
  • Coming from a consultancy background would be ideal for this role where you have had exposure to various different environments or working for a smaller business, start up or product environment where you have had to wear several hats

If you're a Product Design Engineer who wants more ownership, more variety and more opportunity to get stuck into the engineering, I'd love to hear from you.
