The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving plant machinery and equipment to ensure maximum reliability, efficiency, and production uptime.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across production and site equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Conduct reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs on a wide range of machinery.
- Maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors, chains, belts, pneumatics, hydraulics, and associated mechanical systems.
- Support continuous improvement projects aimed at improving equipment performance and reliability.
- Assist with machinery installations, modifications, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Accurately record maintenance activities using the site's maintenance management system.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to support business objectives.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Time-served Mechanical Engineer or recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a maintenance engineering role within manufacturing, production, FMCG, logistics, or industrial environments.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with conveyors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a shift engineering team.
Desirable
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge.
- Experience using CMMS maintenance systems.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
